I was super sceptical of this tool, as I have my styling routine down with my Parlux dryer combined with flexible styling using my ghd wave wand and platinum+ straighteners. So the 3-in-1, 7-in-1 tools didn’t seem necessary to me. I had a chance to play with my friend’s Dyson Airwrap and had no love for it, then... my sister convinced me to try her new ghd Duet Blow Dry brush. She said if I knew how to style with a round brush or curl with a wand this would come easily (sure, but again - what’s the point?). Well - it was the wet to dry styling and genuinely doing all three stages AT ONCE that blew me away (no pun intended). Furthermore, I was finally getting that true blowout style my stylist can manage but I hadn’t quite mastered, plus without battling the frizziness after blowaving, then smoothing and styling with my irons after that - which would usually end up a 40 min routine. In more like half the time, this thing was getting smooth, voluminous, flowy waves after 2 - 3 sweeps through a section, with it basically not mattering which way you turned or oriented the brush.
Granted, it took some getting used to on the first and second attempts - my long, bleached blonde hair still needed some care to truly glide through the sections, as it could catch or snag if you weren’t patient. The key is to allow a ’straight dry through’ brushing under from the root to the tip for the first sweep (this can get it 80% dry), before the next sweep where you can start twisting or curling with the brush to get that instant wave. But I also felt using the right product helped assist with this (I grabbed the ghd ‘Sleek Talker’ heat protectant oil to try and really liked the extra ‘glide’ it offered). I also love I can use again on the second or third day on dry hair to quickly freshen up my waves without a full restyle. I highly recommend trialling it first if you can, to decide if this is for you before buying (I’m not sure shorter styles above shoulder length would get as much out of it?)
